This online panel by SABA-NA’s Racial Justice Task Force features Arwa Zakir Kakavand, Managing Attorney for the Community Legal Response Project at Casa Cornelia Law Center in San Diego, and Maria Alejandra Zavaleta, LA-based immigration attorney, in a conversation on how community members, whether they are lawyers or not, can actively support their communities in responding to immigration enforcement action in the US.
In part, they will cover best practices for recording action, preparing communities of anticipated raids, distributing critical information to non-English speaking community members, how to interact with ICE/CBP/folks being detained to best position the detainees for release, and more in-depth ways to get involved.
All SABA members are invited to join!
